Illustrated Talk followed by Q & A
ACA main campus, Joan James Harris Theater, 1414 Art Center Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168 | 386.427.6975
Janie Geiser is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice includes performance, film, and installation. Geiser’s work is known for its recontextualization of abandoned images and objects, its embrace of artifice, and its investigation of memory, power and loss. ”Geiser gives voice to the reaches of the unconscious, pointing to the abandoned splendor that exists prior to the rules of society and language.”  (—Holly Willis)

Healing Power of the Arts

On Exhibit: April 9-19, 2019
Opening Reception: April 6, 4 PM – 7 PM
Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM | ACA at Harris House, 214 S. Riverside Drive, NSB
Since 2012, ACA continues to engage all generations by connecting community health to the arts. In this special gallery exhibition, ACA Arts & Wellness ambassadors Bethany Bennett and Shy Morris showcase the amazing strides seen at outreach programs to elders, youth, and active adults in Volusia County. These programs improve mental and physical health, offer creative solutions to overcome age and disability discrimination, prevent loneliness and isolation, and support healthy living from a holistic perspective. These outreach programs advocate for accessibility and inclusion by supporting people of every generation to explore their “inner artists” and learn from one another.
