GIANT STEPS

Did you know that saxophone legend John Coltrane used Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity to map his composition “Giant Steps”? This summer, youth are invited to join ACA artist Bethany Bennett, for a fun, engaging exploration of arts and sciences. This STEAM program (STEM with Arts) is designed for middle school aged youth during the 2019 Summer Camp at Babe James Community Center.  Supported by the City of New Smyrna Beach. Expressive Art Journaling

Come explore art journaling in this class led by artist/art therapist Laura Bohn. The goal of therapeutic art journaling is to reduce stress and promote relaxation by increasing participants’ ability to play, experiment and gain self-guided insight and understanding of one’s own emotions. Added benefits can include self-growth, discovery, and joy through visual storytelling in a supportive group environment. Limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration required. Creative Caregiving

Caregiving for a loved one is a journey of joy and difficulty. Yin Yoga for Creativity

Join Michele Benton, certified yoga instructor, and Soundwalk facilitator, Lady Eve for a unique yin yoga workshop with live music for balancing the energy centers of the body. This in-depth workshop will focus on chakra alignment, using live musical accompaniment and focused sound frequencies to open these energy points. $35 / ACA members $25. Limited to 40 participants.

Art of the Exhale II

Join Body Dialogue creator, Janice Stieber Rous to recondition and de-stress your body. This two-part series focuses on the importance of breathing correctly and building more robust health. Drawing on the modalities of Alexander technique, breathing coordination, yoga and mindfulness practices, Janice will guide you into a more expressive and expansive experience of your body. Trees As Human Experience: Mixed Media Workshop

Come enjoy this visual and narrative mixed media art process workshop using your printed or found tree images, words, collage elements, and memorabilia. Based on either memories of trees, symbols, metaphors, or how you relate to trees in the environment through time. This workshop will include a brief session of forest bathing (shinrinyoku). $45 / ACA members $35. Limited to 12 participants.
