Exploring Soundscapes at Blue Springs

January 16, 2022, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

$2 – $6

Learn about soundscapes in our natural areas! Join us at Blue Springs State Park as we discuss soundscapes and offer an opportunity to listen to audio captured throughout the Blue Spring basin (at roadside pavilion). Atlantic Center for the Arts partners with the rangers at Blue Springs, alongside Stetson University to offer the opportunity to listen to live audio underwater using hydrophones (at St. Johns River T-dock). Hear manatees in real-time underwater!

The presenters include Ranger Connor Wagner, who completed his Master’s thesis on bioacoustics. Dr. Nathan Wolek, a sound artist and audio researcher whose work encompasses electronic music, audio field recording, multimedia performance and sound design. Eve Payor leads Soundwalks at Atlantic Center for the Arts and is the lead curator for the ACA Soundscape Field Station at Canaveral National Seashore.
