Will Cotton was born in Melrose, Massachusetts and raised in New Paltz, New York. He has a BFA from Cooper Union in New York City.
His paintings are in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C.; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; Seattle Art Museum, Washington; Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio; and Orlando Museum of Art, Florida, as well as many prominent private collections. Cotton has been represented by Mary Boone Gallery in New York since 1999.
Cotton served as the artistic director of the California Gurls music video for pop singer Katy Perry.
Cotton is the subject of a monograph published by Rizzoli, USA.

Residency Statement
Applicants should be serious painters wanting to spend this time working and having intimate discussions on art and technique. Conversations will be both group and one on one. Additionally, there will be group figure drawing sessions.

Residency Fee: $900
Includes a $100 administration fee, weekday meals and housing; does not include artist materials, transportation, or weekend meals.
