Join Florida Poet Laureate for Volusia County, M.B. McLatchey, in this workshop series where poets will practice techniques for chasing away the censors that tell us what we can say or should say in our poems. In his book, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind, Zen master Shunryu Suzuki’s says “This is the real secret of the Arts: always be a beginner.” Come try your hand at writing as “beginners” again, generating poems that take risks and tell truths. All levels of poets are welcome, from new to advanced. Don’t miss this chance to experiment and grow with Florida Poet Laureate, M.B. McLatchey.

M.B. McLatchey currently serves as one of Florida’s Poet Laureates for Volusia County and is the recipient of the 2011 American Poet Prize. She was recently selected as a Writer-in-the-Spotlight by the national Association of Writers & Writing Programs: https://www.awpwriter.org/community_calendar/spotlight_view/mb_mclatchey. A widely-published author and the recipient of several national literary awards, including theMay Swenson Award for her book of poems, The Lame God, published by Utah State University Press, M.B. is a professor of Classics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach.
