Come turn a book into a personal art journal with artist/art therapist Laura Bohn. We will transform old books and recycle them into personal art expressions that respond to our needs and goals.
Bring in an old hard cover book (about journal size) to transform into an altered book. A book you can fit in your hands and carry easily will work best. Avoid books with slick pages or books that are heavy.
Using mixed media, books can be transformed with new materials. Bring in scraps of fabric, leather, beads, wire, and other small treasures that might adorn your book covers. Bring words, letters, photocopies, and other images that may end up in your personal journal.
The goal is to address therapeutic concerns and positive emotions through the pages of your altered book/art journal.
Benefits can include using Altered books to provide a symbolically layered means of exploring your life, especially when we make art intentionally for growth and wellbeing.
