The annual Young Masters Digital Gallery showcases the work of talented youngsters ages 6-12 from Atlantic Center for the Arts Summer Art Camp. Works will be chosen each week to be shown in our online gallery.
Session 1: ABSTRACT (June 4 – 7 )
In session 1 we experimented with different shapes, lines, and colors to make abstract art. Campers used different art forms to express the emotions we feel as human beings. Teachers: Kim Sander, Heather Pastor, and ACA Community Artist Shy Morris.
Session 2: CANDYLAND Theater Week (June 11 – 14)
If you can dream it, you can build it! Ins session 2 we experience the world of theater production by creating costumes, scenery, and writing skits. The entire play glowed in black light. Teachers: Laura Combs, Heather Pastor, and Danielle Grau.
Session 3: LANDSCAPE (June 18 – 21)
In session 3, campers chose a favorite place and use different artforms to turn this landscape into art. With teachers: Tina Curry, Sue Brown, and Miss Shy.
Session 4: IN THE JUNGLE Theater Week (June 25 – 28)
Session 4 was IN THE JUNGLE! During Theater Week we explored the world of theater production to make a story about the jungle and all its creatures. The entire scene was built to glow in black light. Campers designed the scenes, costumes, wrote the script, and performed! Teachers: Sue Brown, Tina Curry, and Amber Johnson.
Session 5: SCULPTURE Make a work of art in 3-D (July 9 – 12)
Using recycled materials, in session 5 campers created table sized sculptures. Using the imagination to form a figure, or make a piece of abstract art. Teachers: Tina Curry, Laura Combs, and Nadine Soldivieri.
Session 6: PORTRAITS (July 16 – 19)
In session 6 campers created create a unique self-portrait or “selfie,” plus a portrait of your favorite person, pet, or superhero! Teachers: Sam Hughes, Tina Curry, and Nadine Soldivieri.
Session 7: TEEN WEEK (July 23 – 26)
Teens were able to explore the Atlantic Center for the Arts “open studio” learning experience with advanced projects. Teachers: Sandra Koop, Kim Sander, and Amber Johnson.
