Traveling from Strasbourg, France, Bruno will be working with local students on a wide-ranging sound art project which uses an intuitive approach to sound and music creation using careful listening of the sound environment linked to practice in sound expression and production.

“We will be listening and recording our environment, producing sounds with everyday objects and our voices, and recording them, then selecting, editing, transforming and organizing all these sounds into sound compositions. We’ll be learning new sound and music techniques simply by ‘playing with sound’. Using microphones, computers and iPads to create music or sound art compositions we’ll develop our own personal artistic expression, and discover new ways through sound to ‘see’ our friends, our neighbors, our community and the world.”

For more than four weeks now Atlantic Center for the Arts’ Community Artist-in-Residence, Bruno de Chénerilles has been doing sound work¬shops with kids in Chisholm Elementary, Edgewater Public School, New Smyrna Beach Middle School, and an after school program in NSB’s Historic Westside. Because these workshops are happening within the school system, Bruno is offering other events that are free and open to everybody—especially families.
