Do you sometimes wish you did know more about art? Especially modern art? Yes, It can seem mysterious for most of us. But, It doesn’t have to be. Knowing About Modern Art explores modern art as experiences in visual communication. You will understand what makes art “modern” and contemporary art, by knowing how, what, where, and when it developed. Led by Stetson University professor, Michael Katz, you will learn:
The difference between looking at, and seeing art
How art functions as visual communication in more ways than we realize
The Elements and Principles of art for visual communication
The significant art movements of the past
The development of modern art
What makes some art “good” and some art” bad” – and who gets to decide?
Michael Katz has extensive experience in visual communication as a fine artist, college art educator, and an applied artist as a graphic designer/director for television.
