Atlantic Center Awarded Sally Mead Hands Foundation Grant
ACA’s world-renowned Artists-in-Residence program was awarded a new grant of $16,000 from the Sally Mead Hands Foundation to provide residency scholarships. Through the Foundation’s generous support, the Sally Mead Hands Foundation Scholarships will be awarded to 16 exceptional composers and musicians accepted into Atlantic Center’s residency program.
Sally Hands, who passed away in 2009, was a part-time resident of New Smyrna Beach and a donor to ACA. She was passionate about music, music composition, and the artists who create this work. “In the spirit of her giving heart and her descendants’ desire to continue her commitment to the creation of a better world, the Sally Meads Hands Foundation supports projects that increase human and environmental capital in a world of limited resources.”
Atlantic Center is grateful for this funding which helps to provide emerging and midcareer composers with the opportunity for transformational artistic growth. This grant supports Atlantic Center in its goal of increasing contributed and endowed income so that fees can be discontinued, and all artists-in-residence can attend at no charge.
Atlantic Center for the Arts is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3), interdisciplinary artists-in-residence community and arts education facility dedicated to promoting artistic excellence by providing talented artists an opportunity to work and collaborate with some of the world's most distinguished contemporary artists in the fields of music composition and the visual, literary and performing arts. Community interaction is coordinated through on-site and outreach presentations, workshops and exhibitions. |
