Joan Mitchell Foundation Awards Grant

Atlantic Center for the Arts is pleased and excited to be the recipient of a $25,000 grant award from the Joan Mitchell Foundation. The funds will be used to award scholarships to painters and sculptors accepted into ACA’s 2008 residency programs. The Joan Mitchell Foundation seeks to demonstrate that painting and sculpture are significant cultural necessities. As it celebrates the legacy of American artist Joan Mitchell by encouraging the ambitions of developing artists, ACA’s founder, painter and sculptor Doris Leeper established an artists’ residency program to provide emerging artists with mentorship and exceptional learning opportunities. These parallel aims have collided in a symbiotic fashion that will assist painters and sculptors from around the world.
